Can you believe we have no pictures of my first (and last) half marathon? We had a friend at the finish line with our camera, but the battery was dead. I really enjoyed this experience up until the last two miles when I thought surely I would have to be picked up by the clean-up crew on mile 12. I was so famished I could barely make myself climb those last hills. The course is ridiculously up-hilly. There never seemed to be a downhill :), not sure how that can happen. Thankfully sweet Michael came back for me and made me finish amidst the sickness and "run for cover" and "seek shelter" comments the police were yelling. We were in a tornado watch. Could my first half-marathon get any worse. Even if we had had a working camera, we still wouldn't have had photos because at the finish line they were herding us out to our cars. So much for camaraderie with friends and reveling in personal accomplishment. At least I can say I finished!
