Nashville flood of 2010

Let's hope this is an every 100 year occurrence. We had the most water I've ever seen fall in record time here in Nashville this past weekend.
We refinished our basement less than 9 months ago with all new floors, walls, windows, doors, trim and an entirely new bathroom. The sheen and reflection you see is all water. Our entire floor was floating on water and every time you walked, more squished out between your feet.
It looks like it has been freshly vacuumed, but that is also water.

Our poor ditch was totally compromised and couldn't contain the amount of rushing water.

Truly amazing. We are fortunate to have been safe throughout the weekend as 29 others were not so lucky here in town. The Lord also spared our belongings as I can't tell you how many stories I've heard of families losing everything including their cars.

Nashville Half Marathon!

Can you believe we have no pictures of my first (and last) half marathon? We had a friend at the finish line with our camera, but the battery was dead. I really enjoyed this experience up until the last two miles when I thought surely I would have to be picked up by the clean-up crew on mile 12. I was so famished I could barely make myself climb those last hills. The course is ridiculously up-hilly. There never seemed to be a downhill :), not sure how that can happen. Thankfully sweet Michael came back for me and made me finish amidst the sickness and "run for cover" and "seek shelter" comments the police were yelling. We were in a tornado watch. Could my first half-marathon get any worse. Even if we had had a working camera, we still wouldn't have had photos because at the finish line they were herding us out to our cars. So much for camaraderie with friends and reveling in personal accomplishment. At least I can say I finished!

Happy 1st Birthday Virginia!!!!

Virginia is quite the climber these days. The tall box was much more fun than the toy inside.

This cake went over better than Mommy's.

Good Morning little monkey.

Still a little sleepy from her 2 am birthday party. I thought she may have been getting her first tooth but she just didn't feel well from her cold.
Graham was a good sport to do this for me.

Her face pretty much sums up how she felt during her whole party.

A little bright moment with Anna Reid.

Everyone enjoyed taking turns blowing out the candle.

Just like her brother, she was not enthused about cake and icing.

As long as she can get dirty in the rocks, she's happy. Who needs new toys?

We celebrated with family the next weekend but managed to to forget family photos.

Picnic at Centennial Park

Well this bread was supposed to be for the ducks. :)
Virginia and Anna Reid chillin' on the blanket.

The ducks were about to explode from the amount of bread Lily and Graham threw them. I think some of them got tired of being hit with full pieces of bread and swam off.

These two had the most fun playing on this old tree.

Back in Mississippi

My new set of pots and pans.

Can you believe that a two year old can drive a 10 month old around for hours without any injury?
They had a blast!

Virginia is a dog whisperer.

catch up time

I've been on blog hiatus but I'm back for a quick catch up post.

Virginia's 1st visit to the Donut Den.
Graham is in a sugar coma after eating 6 white powdered donut holes.

I think she's going to like it.

Dirty afternoon playtime in the rocks.

Our favorite late winter past time

Not scared of a little dirt.

Playing at Lily and Anna Reid's for the afternoon.

Virginia likes being able to crawl around these days.

We drove all the way out to Opry Mills just to ride the carousel. Anybody else sick of hunting inside things to do?

Girls night out in Atlanta. No this wasn't our drink of choice but the waiter thought it was funny since he over heard us talking about being out for the first time in a longgggg time.

G loves helping with blower.

So little bit has learned to crawl but hasn't quite figured out the stairs. She can get on the first step but gets stuck trying to get down.

It won't be long before she conquers all of them.
Please LET US OUT!!

Pucker up M & M lips.

Thank you KK for my favorite Saints shirt and truck!
